Call for Nominations: 2016-2017 Student Co-Chair

Nominate someone great to be the Co-Chair, or if you’re great, nominate yourself!

 

Description:

The Positive Space Campaign is organized by a committee of volunteers who work to create awareness of LGBTQ communities at the University of Toronto. The Positive Space Committee on the St. George Campus hosts events, conducts educational initiatives, and shares information with all members of the campus community.

The Committee is seeking a Student Co-Chair to work with the current Chair, David Kim (Dean of Residence – Chestnut Residence), for the 2016-17 term which runs from May 2016 – April 2017. The committee meets monthly and organizes several events on an annual basis, including: the welcome reception (Oct/Nov), the 5-Buck Lunch at Hart House, and the Display Your Pride event (June).


Responsibilities:

The Co-Chair would be responsible for:

           – Working with the Chair to develop the agenda for each meeting
           – Assisting with taking minutes
           – Assisting with chairing of the Positive Space Committee monthly meetings
           – Assisting with promotion and communication of the activities of the Positive Space Committee
           – Chairing meetings in the Chair’s absence.


Nomination Eligibility:

In order to be eligible for the position, the individual must be registered as a student at the University of Toronto during the 2016-17 academic year. The individual must also have a flexible schedule with availabilities that allow attendance at the monthly meetings and events.


Nomination Process:

Nominations (including self-nominations) can be submitted to the Sexual and Gender Diversity Officer, Allison Burgess, at allison.burgess@utoronto.ca Tuesday, May 31st. Nominations should include: name, academic information (year/faculty), contact information, and a description of why the person/you would be a great candidate.
